This comment always comes up when talking
gas prices but it doesn't seem to be a fair comparison.

In England you have national health care. Is it
partially funded by gas taxes?

Here in Minnesota my wife (who gets our health
insurance at her job) was out of work for five years.
To continue her policy covering the two of us cost
us $650 per month ($7800 per year).  You could buy
a lot of gas for that even at $8 per gallon.

It seems to me that the price of crude oil is the same
for your country as for mine (possible shipping difference).

The price at the pump reflects more than the price
of oil and to make a fair comparison you would have
to have all the numbers.
