Aaron,  You really want to try to find 3003 sheet for this.  And you want to
get it O temper.  (Fully annealed).

If you can find a oven / heat treat furnace that goes to 700 F that is the
annealing temperature you will want.  You can use Ries method of annealing
and it will work well -- you just got to be real careful otherwise you will
have liquid metal.  Melting temperature for 3003 is somewhat less that 1100
F.

By the way, I second Ries's comment about Ron Fournier's book -- it is the
best one out there and everyone interested in metal work should have it.
