Steve,

I am in southeast Minnesota. A long way from the lake country. Search
for Ely MN. That seems to be the place to get outfitted for a trip into
the
Boundary waters.

Duluth is a great town. Check out duluthshippingnews.com for some nice
pictures of large ships bringing limestone, cement, etc into MN and
taconite, grain etc. out.

Driving north from Duluth on the "North Shore" of Lake Superior is a
beautiful ride. Said to be more like the coast of Maine than
the coast of Maine.

Once we drove up to Thunder Bay in Canada (where Paul Schaffer
(Letterman show)) is from. Then to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.
Very nice. Saw moose there and a black bear at the park dump.

If you get down my way feel free to stop in. Between Rochester MN
(home of Mayo Clinic) and LaCrosse WI.
