As I'm cleaning out the inbox, I reread this. Not to stir the pot, or
anything...

Not sure this can happen now, but I hope I'm wrong. My
concern is for technological thresholds. Those on top,
I have precious little doubt, are treacherous enough to
use whatever means are at their disposal to remove any
threat to them. This includes a lot of technology that
is very effective. A good friend with whom I attended
US Davis, his father worked for Lawrence Livermore Labs.
He told us about weapons they had developed that most
people wouldn't even believe possible. One was a hard
X-ray laser configured as a beacon to radiate in a programmed
arc. Instant retinal destruction. According to G's
dad, it was shelved when human rights organizations caught
wind of its existence. Shelved doesn't mean "lost" or
destroyed. If a mass civil insurrection became a reality,
do you think "they" would hesitate to resurrect such
devices to quell the threat to their dominion? I don't.

An insurrection would proabably be very inconvenient, but
I don't think it would threaten the power trust unless
the military jumped ship, and that is the one wildcard
	that remains.
