Very true.  Twenty five years of learning, frustration and excitement
passed before my mental eye as I cleaned out my old shop, shoveled up
all the offcuts, dumped out the buckets of failed experiments and
groveled through a ton or two of miscellaneous bars & bits, many of
them individually recognizable but most of which went to the dumpster.

I really like having a clean new shop with space for an orderly, tidy
junk pile out back but I kinda miss my scrap pile scrap book.

BTW, I finally hammered some hot iron with the 300# A&O air hammer.
Control is still not too good -- I think my RPMs are too low -- and
the old car power plant has too many risks and complications for
production use but I can punch a 1" hole through a 3/4" bar with 3
blows: two on top and one to knock out the plug.  Yee-haaaaah!
