Chuck,
I ran into the same problem last year when I started to work on the
layout and editing a book about gas burners that Michael Porter was
writing. By the time Mikey had written and illustrated the 3rd chapter
I had built a 1/2-inch burner and was over the worries about propane,
not that you should ever relax and not practice safe working habits. It
went from there to a 3/4-inch burner and a propane bottle gas forge.
And much to my joy I am now using this forge in my garage.
So, by the end of February Mikey's book will roll off the presses and
will be available through Bookmasters, see info in the address block
below.
