[TheForge] glasses, gloves, hearing protectors.

Safety glasses are fine till you start doing things that really put a lot of
junk in the air or present a high risk of doing so, such as using a disk
grinder, wire wheel, etc. Then I add a face shield to my safety glasses. I
can't tell you how many times a piece of high speed debris made a 2-3 rail
shot off my cheek or forehead, then off the inside of my glasses/face shield
and back into my face or eye. This has even happened with side shileds on
the glasses, rare but it's happened. I've NEVER had debris make it past both
glasses and face shield. Good vision can do more to keep you safe than
layers of armor so I only double up when the situation warrants.

Stick with the Peltors, hot or not. Ear plugs are better than nothing but
for really loud, especially piercing noise you need to protect the mastoid
bone as well or the noise will do damage by conduction through the bone.
This Christmas Deb bought me a pair of AM/FM radio muffs (Peltor protection)
and I love em. I can listen to the radio without having to crank it to the
point it may cover up a warning sound. Really REALLY nice running loud
machinery.

Gloves are up to you, I use them depending on the situation though prefer
not to when possible. I hear good things about Kevlar but haven't tried them
yet myself. Leather's tough and decent protection but doesn't like much
heat. Cotton will smolder at the least spark and will scald hell out of you
if it gets even damp.

it ain't real.
Wrought iron is.
