Jim,
That beautiful ring got me to your mokume site, and all the other fantastic
examples of your work. I was interested enough to read your Santa Fe
paper, and then go surfing for phase diagrams. When I hit the term
eutectic, I suddenly had a flashback to my petrology courses! I hated the
things! But, after reading about them now, they seem simple. I don't know
what changed in the last 35 years, maybe the web explanations are better
than the textbook I used. I also have to admit that simple binary phase
diagrams are a lot easier to comprehend than one for molten rock.
Your method, and your instrumentation and equipment, are ingenious. The
manner in which you freely share what must have cost hours of expensive
frustration is inspiring.
I started describing to my wife the method and equipment. She could tell
that I was enthused. She really liked your work, but her comment was
"before you get into that I've got a long list of stuff that you're going
to make".
If I should I get up that way, are you amenable to visitors?
