[TheForge] OT: Strokes

A stroke caused by an embolus or clot blocking blood flow causing brain
tissue to die. The severity of the stroke depends on how much brain tissue
dies. This type has a higher survivor rate than the other type which is
caused by a blood vessel bursting in the brain and bleeding into the
cranium. Small vessel bleeds are survivable, whereas large vessel bleeds
generally are not.
My father had a mild stroke a few years back with weakness on the left side.
He can get around but he's not the same man he was. Went from a workaholic
to couch potato. Stopped doing his exercises for his weak left hand and now
it's useless. When I found out (I live a thousand miles away) I asked him
why. He said it wasn't getting better. I told him it wasn't for getting
better, it was to keep it from getting worse. He just didn't care. Like I
said not the same man he was.
I hope your friend recovers.
Rob
