I recently used a patina for nickel on a wrought iron cuff
type bracelet I finished for a friend. I was surprised to
find that on a stone polished surface it produced a very
nice purple-ish black finish. On an etched wrought iron
bracelet it produced a dark-graphite color, also pleasing.
It's just called "nickel-ox". I found it at my local
jeweler's supply. It almost looks home made. If you cannot
find it, I can get you the contact information for these folks.
