Yup they are pretty neat devices, rotary ones are better, you use another 3
phase motor and run your machine from the terminals off that. You can build
both of these yourself, Id say for $150 the one you saw would have a very
low hp rating. Do a google on phase converter and sit down for a day and
read.....
