Bob's being too modest here Stelco was ready to let the steam hammers go for scrap. Bob rescued the hammers from that fate. He convinced steam museum to take the hammers, and hustled to find someone to transport the hammers to there new home.

They were John Bertram hammers that were built in Dundas, Ontario, a small town just outside the city. I have pictures of them in use, and of the demolition, and when my son teaches me how to post them, I'll do so. The museum has no intention of making them run again, but would like to put keep them indoors. I told them they should just let them stand guard at the entrance, like cannons in front of castle. In the meantime they are laying on their backs covered with a tarpaulin.

I have also become involved in the Ontario affiliate of ABANA, (The Ontario Artist Blacksmith Assoc. or OABA ) and enjoy doing demos for them, and the public in general. I like to think after 28 yrs I've got the blacksmith part down, and now I'm starting to work on the artist part;)
