Actually, both Halliburton and the Pentagon have admitted that they did
indeed sell gasoline at twice the market price on the world market, but
the pentagon has issued a "waiver" allowing Halliburton to do it,
because Halliburton was buying the gas from the Kuwaiti State owned
petroleum company, and THEY were charging twice the price. So
Halliburton was only making their standard and preapproved markup. It
was the initial cost from the Kuwaiti's that was high. Not sure exactly
why Halliburton had to buy from the Kuwaiti's, but there was some kind
of political fix in that required it.
That is the real problem, which of course is not being discussed
anywhere.
