Depending on you location -- think about locating the air compressor outside
of the shop. I think you talked about southern VA as a location? If so put
the compressor outside with a small roof over it but otherwise open. It
will help keep the nosie out of the shop, lets it breath in fresh air, not
shop air and doesn't take up floor space. It also means it will cool
better. You do need to watch draining water from the compressor. My
suggestion for that is to pipe the drain back into the shop, and put the
valve there. Then shut your compressor down at the end of a work day / or
night and drain it. Take a look at most body shops in your area, I bet
their compressors are outside.

& Advice Needed)

Once again, thanks to all for the great info. Sounds like 3-phase
electricity, will have to wait. When I get to a level where industrial
equipment & power hammers make sense, hopefully I'll be earning a little
income to afford 3-phase.

The air compressor on the other hand sounds very useful. I could share it
with my husband (motorcycle fanatic). As long as he agrees to let it reside
in my shop. I better start working on convincing him of that.

Lastly thank goodness for everyone's advice on the tool clean up. I would
have been the type to clean it to the max.....and would have seriously
regretted it. Phil, I need to take a look at the anvil (it's currently in
storage) & then get back to you.

In the meantime I'm feverishly looking at recommended websites, ordering
catalogs & thinking about workflow.

  Thanks. Bettina
