"I'm a beginner blacksmith who recently acquired an anvil with a 3/4 inch
hardy hole. I'm now looking for any and all tools to fit. Does anyone on
the
list have any hardies with a 3/4 shank for sale or know of any sources for
this "
Hi Larry, I have the same problem I have solved it by making my own hardies
to fit the 3/4 inch hole. The first one I made I just found some round stock
larger than 3/4 and drew it down to a square that fit in my hardy hole. then cut
off a hardy from a larger shank welded it on and was done. I also forged one
tool head and all from that piece of round. I found a broken star drill that
had a hollow octagonal shaft, did'nt take near as long to forge it to fit, I
welded on a spring fuller to it. So far no problems with any of em.
Time enough for sleep in the grave.
Tod Estes.
