[TheForge] WTB: Any hardy tools to fit 3/4 inch hardy hole

It probably wouldn't take long to make a 7/8 into a 3/4 inch using your
side grinder. The dimensions of the hardy hole in my old anvils are
generally NOT a perfect square. I like a hardy that has a long enough
shank that it sticks through the bottom of the anvil. That way it is easy
to pop out with a hammer from the bottom, and it is unlikely to jump out
on its own.

I own a few "store bought" hardies .. some of the others I made by
forging solid stock to fit.

Back a year or two ago, some one on this list talked about arc welding
square tubing to the base of the working hardy tool head to make a new
hardy. In another discussion, perhaps , it was Saint Phlip suggested
that simple angle iron welded to the base of the new hardy tool would work
just as well. I tried it, and think that the single angle iron shank of an
angle iron base hardies work ok.

Note: If you forget or fail to remove the hardy before you return
to hammering iron... you risk accidently bashing / injuring your hammer-
hand on the hardy tool. Some one once lectured me about that, and sure
enough, he was right.
