Andy, it is not reasonable to compare a "normal" civil
situation such as what we find in the USA and a war zone.
The situation in Iraq cannot be equated with that of the
USA. There is a foreign invader on their soil and they
are very legitimately wanting us gone. Our pretext of
maintaining control until such time as they have "earned"
the right to govern themselves is repugnant beyond words.
Those people were living in that place for millenia before
America had an ass to wipe. That we come in , bust the
nation up and then treat the citizens of one of the oldest
nations on the planet as if they were idiot children begs
the type of response the USA is getting in terms of the
bombings. It is precasely this sort of interference that
could galvanize those people behind a new Saddam.
We need to get the hell out now. Leave them to their
devices. They will work things out. We did them a decent
turn by ousting Hussein, I will concede that much, but what
good does my helping you change your truck's flat tire do
if I then gouge out one of your eyes with a screwdriver?

If we left, they would work things out for themselves.
People always do, one way or another. And if they chose
to slaughter one another into extinction, so what? It
is their right to do so. I don't say I agree with it, but
there are many things that happen in this world with which
I do not agree, yet I keep my nose out of it because it is
not my place to interfere in most cases.
