Thanks to all for the cleaning tips.  Will try the
greased lightning idea first and use more cold rolled
stock.

(interesting note.....before medical and UAB jobs,
most of the jobs in this city were in the foundries
and steel mills.  US Steel was probably the no. 1
employer at one time.  Birmingham used to be called
the Pittsburgh of the South and Steel City and we have
a giant 60 foot statue of Vulcan on top of Red
Mountain....check it out next time you're traveling
through)
