Bob,
I made my live center using the thrust bearings out of an A/C compressor.
It works but tends to drag if I make it real tight, which you have to do
sometimes to keep the disk from slipping. I also have the Lindsey books and
they have instructions for making live centers which I have been thinking
about trying. Another option would be to get a commercial live center and
then add an addapter to give you a flat contact point. I've seen some in
ENCO and MSC that come with several different tips.
Who put out the CD that you have?

Spinning is something I would like to learn more about.I picked up a CD on
it
and have one small book from Lindsey publications.I have yet to set up my
lathe for it though.I am unsure about the live center for the tailstock or
how to
make one with a flat on it
