I've always found the survivalist mentality lamely amusing.
Survival at all costs smacks of cowardice, particularly in
the days of post-nuclear concern. What in hell would have
(or may yet be) left to survive for? To live like some
sort of irradiated savage in a wrecked world? Seems "quality
of existence" means nothing to some folks, but that's OK.
But under such conditions, I will happily spend my time
pushing up daisies, thanks very much.

Given the firearm handling skills of the police that I have
seen or had accounts of, I am with you 100%. I remember about
a dozen years or so ago a judge in a Texas court confiscated
all the guns of the bailiffs because of accidental discharges
in the court. IIRC, there were rooms above the courtroom in
question and the cops blew several holes through the ceiling
from above, during trial no less with the room full of people.
Nobody was injured, but I bet it made for some interesting
proceedings. :)
Most of the worst firearms handling I have ever witnessed
was at the hands of police officers. When I was shooting
often, I would leave the range whenever I knew cops showed
up. I don't take well to having a gun pointed at me, so
it's just better to leave than to get into it with a cop
and wind up in cuffs. Some of the things I've seen them
do defy belief.
Back to the CD: what concern would your "federal" police
have regarding the materials in question? What coudl they
do to you? I'm curious to know the differences between Oz
and the USA.
