I think it says something about the craft that we have such depth of
experience. Now everyone is on the edge of their seats, waiting for a
deep, philosophical statement. Don't fall off, it isn't coming.
I always "warn" newcomers that they are on the slippery slope, and it is
probably too late. I used to do woodworking; I still do, but just when
necessary. Iron is the thing. There is just something very compelling
about the peculiar combination of fire, many individual blows becoming
more than their sum, apparent danger (not if you're doing it right).
