It seems most air cylinders have too small ports for the amount of air =
we
would like to move through them. One garage-tech thing I did on a 2 1/2" =
x
14" cylinder was to take the 3/8" ports and drill them out to 1/2". No
Lathe, no scientific alignment, just the right size drill and a 1/2" npt
tap. If you have a tie-rod cylinder, disassemble it and take a close =
look at
the amount of material in the cylinder cap(s) and chances are you can =
open
things up a little. It makes a HUGE difference.=20
As far as brand names of equipment I used: SMC 5 way valve #4244, =
clippard
air pilot roller switch, Mead air cylinder. I actually sold my kinyon =
awhile
back but I miss greatly the 14" stroke that I had built into the thing =
(with
the bottom die out). It's the red 'hammer' next to John Newman's in the
power hammer page on photoaccess.

Shouldn't one be concerned with getting drill shavings into the =
cylinder?
