According to several of the sites, exposure to manganese fumes from
welding or dealing with almost any heated steel can cause Parkinson's
Disease-like symptoms due to manganese fumes. There's a big class-action
lawsuit going on about it. Short exposure isn't considered too
dangerous, but it sure makes a case for good ventilation, especially
when welding.
I don't think I'm going to do much more work with that particular steel
though. I have so few working brain cells left I'd better take some care.
And here I thought Zinc Fume Fever was bad! :)
