Speaking of bicycles, my wife and I rode from Ottawa, Ontario to Mexico in
1970 (2500 miles) and were treated real nice by most everyone we met, and
some inviting us into their homes. Michigan was another matter, as we got
yelled at and blasted with horns etc etc for even daring to be on their
roads. Were we ever glad to get out of that state.
We went through the Motorcyle phase too, having over ten of them, my
favorite being a Rickman Honda that I made up myself, importing a racing
frame from Britain and fitting a ramped up Honda 750 four into it. This
machine was so stable that anything below 80 mph and you felt like you could
get off and walk.
Now when I need a bike fix, I rent a Harley Low Rider and mostly enjoy going
along at the speed limit, with the odd burst to enjoy that sound and
tourque. I lift my glass to the joy of a bike ride, there is nothing quite
like it.

Bicycles will become more common on freeways when gas hit's three bucks a
gallon! But until then I will keep my little mtn. bike off the highways ;)
Yesterday while Ries was dodging Harley's I jumped on the bike and scoped
out the new double helix bridge over the tracks on the Seattle waterfront.
Check it out under the 'anything else' album in the photaccess page. There's
some real neat connectors in there.
