Greetings,

A good 15- 20 years ago we used a "niggerhead" on  a job I worked with 
the boilermakers.  Mainly a rigging job, we were replacing small tanks 
in a food processing plant.  I had never heard the term before but I can 
tell you the guys on the job weren't afraid to use it.  We had few if 
any black tradesmen in the field back then, usually just laborers, some 
Teamsters.
