[TheForge] converting inches of mercury to torr?

Thanks Dave, I was looking at a used vacuum pump Welch #8890A on e-bay and
the description said it was rated at 0.1 torr. Apparently that must be an
error. I can see how someone would make and error though. All of these
different pressure units and ratings for pumps seem overly complicated to
me, I can't see why they don't just rate everything by the torr. And why is
it if atmospheric pressure is 29.92 inches for instance, it would seem to
me that a vacuum pump would be trying to reach 0 inches Hg, yet some pump
manufacturers invert the scale and describe there products as being able to
reach 29.92 inches of mercury as if atmospheric pressure were 0 inches Hg.
All pretty confusing if you ask me.
