Subject: ABANA
Hi , I'm in South Carolina. I got your name off of the ABANA web
site.I'm looking for statistics for small metal working businesses.I'm
not sure that it even exists.
I'm here in Charleston,SC. I make architectural ironwork.
I'm presently in the midst of a sales tax audit from my State Tax
Commission. Here in my state,I collect sales tax on all materials &
production labor within my workshop. The labor required to install the
product is not subject to tax. They are offended at the amount of
installation labor on some of my jobs. It sometimes reaches 50% of the
total cost of the job.I must say that it probably looks suspicious to
someone who has never installed a curved rail with individual
spindles, and no bottom rail.I'm trying to educate them.
I'm wondering if any information exists within ABANA or elsewhere
that shows percentages of product vs.installation times within our
trade, nationwide.
If you know of any information on this subject please let me know.
Thanks, Rick Avrett
