[TheForge] Mastermyr photo question...

I always prefer a white photo paper background for shooting dark
colored metalwork. And generally I dont even believe in another object
for scale- you can always measure the object and write the dimensions
on a slide or print- yes, it requires actual thinking to figure out the
size of the object photographed, but this seems to fit in with your
world view, andy. I buy big photo paper from the photo store, and pin
it up on a wall and let it drape down onto the floor. No floor/wall
line, and the paper comes as big as 9 feet wide.

The only other thing you might want to try is shooting on a light
table- that is, a glowing white background. This is usually not needed
with natural colored steel, or black ironwork, but it does sometimes
really bring out the detail in mixed materials.

Besides the neutral white background shots, maybe then you could dress
up like a viking and hold the various objects in your teeth, to better
personify the way any tool can be used to conquer, rape and pillage,
particularly if some dainty british isles are nearby just begging to be
taken.
