I have two stories about Bill Gichner.  Years ago I placed a book search for
the three volume  Sonn  book.  It took over a year to get a response but
when I did they had found two sources.  One for $150  which I purchased the
other for $450 the copy of  which I have kept tucked away in my book.  You
guessed it the other seller was Gichner.
    My other story was at a Quad State conference about 7 years ago.  I was
just learning the ropes about savey tool buying and had spotted a tire
bender on the back of a truck entering the yard.  I managed to run over and
negotiate a deal jogging next to the driver.  When the truck finally pulled
to a stop Bill Gichner had his hand on the bender and yelled to the driver
for a price.  He had quite a suprised look on on his face when he was
informed that it had already been sold to me even though he had managed to
get his hands on it first.  He made eye contact and with a grin tipped his
hat to me.  I felt like I had finally come of age.  Bill Robertson
