summer of 2003 the two sparc workstations i had were given the death
sentence. i hauled them out into the yard and put them both out of their
miserable existance with 20 gauge deer slugs. their huge monitors met
a similar fate. it was awlful to watch the bits oozing out unto the
ground, the cpu attempting once last calculation, the hard drives scream
to get that one last seek in before they died. separated their remains
and melted down the hard drives, electronics and all. their remains are
still in the computer grave yard/morgue waiting for cremation ( melt
down ).

i was a bit amazed at how tough the sparc chassis was. took several
slugs to punch a hole in them. it was interesting to hit a hard drive
with a deer slug while it was run up. those disk heads never had a
chance. it was hard to tell which did the most damage; the deer slug or
the disk plates when they separated at 7200 rpm from the drive motor.
