Okay, okay. I confess. I take a quick browse over Slashdot nearly
every day. Mea culpa. I find something interesting as often as a
couple or three times a week. When I could be sintering a blivet or
sharpening my anvil. I know.

Aren't *you* curious about "What Do People in the IT Field Do for Side
Jobs?" What do blacksmiths do after they punch out? Go sailing?
Study Kabala? Write Lisp code? Feed goats?

No worse that browsing E-bay for $1000 top swages, eh? :-)

My *excuse*, feeble though it may be, is that I'm a GNU/Linux user and
I wanna keep abreast of the Linux news.

That's not bored. *This* is bored:

And in Halifax, too. Think of that.

The energy of the universe is constant.
The entropy of the universe tends to a maximum.
The stupidity of the universe is infinite.

My photographer told me of a customer who came in with some 2x2
negatives and snapshot prints. She wanted 8x10 prints. So, he says,
what can I crop? Don't crop nothing, she says. Well then, there
will be empty space at the top and bottom. No, she says, no, No, NO!
I want them 8x10s just exactly like these here snapshots. No
explanation helped and she left to get her 8x10s elsewhere.

And then there was the guy who looked over a Jag XK140, scrutinized
the knock-off hubs for the wire wheels and asked, "What year Undo is
that?"

It ain't just computers.
