Dirt is pretty nice. I have it in my living room.
No Joke! It's clay/sand stabilized with as much linseed oil as will soak in,
then several coats of commercial acrylic "wax".
Looks great, very barefoot friendly. I don't think it would be suitable for
a shop, though, because the permeated layer is too thin to stand up to heavy
impact, like tumbling a swage block or dropping an anvil...
However, dirt makes a pretty-pretty nice shop floor, too, if you can keep it
from getting too dusty.
