As a small shop smith, I recommend keeping some things moveable.  I built a couple of tool carts on casters for hand tools.  I mounted the gas forges on steel utility carts (aka 'service carts', available from industrial supply sources, such as Global).  The steel layout table is on casters.  Some equipment, of course, must be fixed; but having as much as possible mobile allows for rearragement to accommodate various projects.  As mentioned by others ... consider well ventilation and location of electrical outlets.
