I have unfortunately had similar experiences. While it is better than a
cast iron ASO, it is not particularly good, either. It rings like a
bell, but doesn't bounce the hammer worth crap. It seems that there is a
wide range of quality among these anvils, so you sort of roll the dice
when you buy one. Fine for a beginner, but I will stick with my
Mousehole and Peter Wright.
