That's -fluoric

and it eats glass. And, IIRC, a spill on the skin will soak in to the
tissues, penetrate to the bones and begin to devour them. In
concentrated form at least, this is really bad stuff.

Um, I don't think so. They put phosphoric acid in soda pop. I had
thought this was a thing of the long past but ca. 1994 I bought a can of
(Jolt? I forget) cola in Boston and phosphoric acid was listed in the
ingredients.
Canned corn eats glass. A mason jar used for canning fresh corn will,
if stored for a year or three, show etched frosting on the glass.
