[TheForge] brass hand rail

Well- here goes.
Got my first brass handrail job. Compound curves, lambs tongues, the whole
bit. FWIW it's just the top cap to an otherwise mundane design.
Have you guys priced this stuff lately? 400+$ for a 20' stick. Yow! Of
course the supplier said 'We just had a price increase' no kidding!
I'm going for a combination of tapping the underside for 1/4 x 20 screws to
hold it down and, on others' suggestions, using silver solder for
connections. I've also talked to one ornamental guy that prefers not to use
heat all all, preferring to thread everything and to try to go for as
invisible of a joint as possible when butting up.
Ries- Is this a case for my as-yet-untried TIG brazing using silicon bronze?

I'm preparing some sample butt joints this evening but the last thing I want
is a puddle of bronze on the floor!

Fortunately for me the builder said HE would take care of finish/polishing
for the handrail. Whew!

Steve
