Dave,

I was reading the blacksmith book that would open for me in PDF, and got
lost in thought, reading the book "Making a wheel". The spokes for the
light English wheel look to me to be the same basic shape as the tomahawk
handles.

I have a horse ( mule) 4 wheel wooden wagon that the prior owner cut the
rotted wooden wheels down and screwed bicycle rims onto the spokes. That
worked for a year or two, but then he cut the spokes off shorter and
drilled through to bolt on 4 of those donut automotive rims /spare
tires. A local craftsman builds and replaces wheels like this and has
offered me what I think is a pretty good deal of about $100 per
wheel. Finding the extra $400 keeps getting pushed back the
restoration job, season by season.
