"As of April 16, 1920, the Columbus Forge and Iron Co. had produced 176,609
serial-number Trenton anvils, in twenty-two years"  page 336 Anvil in
America by Richard A. Postman.   So it looks like you know almost to the day
when this anvil was forged.  In fact I would guess that it was forged on
April 16th itself.  How Postman has this information and date I am not sure
but would guess he was looking at actual records of Columbus Forge and Iron
Co.  Note that Trenton anvils were made in Ohio and not NJ.  Postman says
that early Trenton anvils were made in Germany -- but that is before they
carried a serial number.
