Even though those imported tools all look the same, there really are
differences worth paying for. In any foundry run, there are first, second,
and lesser quality castings. Companies like jet get the good ones, because
they buy more, regularly, and demand better quality. No name importers get
the crummy ones. You can also pay a little more and get better quality
bearings, electrical parts, and even nuts and bolts. I got a granite surface
block from enco one time that had nuts and bolts to assemble the stand that
literally fell apart. The better brands, like jet and grizzly, actually have
made in usa motors available, and in house motor rewinding, surface
grinding, and actual repair technicians, as well as US stock of spare parts.
I dont think "chicago" and "pittsburgh" (two towns in china, evidently) have
any of those things. You really do get what you pay for, and at rong fu
prices, you get rong fu quality.
