Thanks Michael and James,

I'd looked around the 'net and found some technical articles, and like James
B. points out in his response, it has a temp. limit (I forget if it was
7-900 F*).  I didn't find anything on some of the blacksmithing websites I
looked at, but I know I've read some recommendations, or heard some
demonstrator(s) offering their recipes, but can't recall who, where or what.
Might try the ceramics weld-r-white idea.  Leave it to those folks to figure
out hot stuff.  Imagine the boron nitride to be as nasty as borax, just keep
things well ventillated. Kevin

 Molydisulfide is used extensively as a lubricant by "cold headers", the
people that head screws and bolts from coils of steel wire, especially
stainless
steels.  It is available in powder, paste and liquid.  It replaced copper as
a
lubricant for the same use as it is less expensive and much easier to remove
after heading (dont need acid).  It is applied to the coils of steel wire
right
after degreasing by dipping the coil in a tank of it and then drawing it
tight to the wire with a pass through a die.  Everyone seems to have their
own
recipe for making it, and you could probably get info from the Internet.
Molydisulfide is real slippery and is added to all kinds of lubricants such
as oil to
increase its effectiveness.
