Peter consider using a mini excavator to dig your foundation. The little ones
have rubber tracks so they will not tear up your floor they are small enough that
you can work inside a building if you are careful and they will dig about 5' deep
( they are rated to 6" but 5 is more like the effective limit) around her they
can be rented for about $200 a day. If you are not confident using one yourself
in your shop you could probably hire someone to com in and in 2 or 3 hours he
could have the hole dug and most of it loaded in your wheelbarrow as you run in
and out with it
