I had one of those once and I went through the same steps of confusion
and discovery that you did.  It was a ball of rust when I got it,
eventually had it hogging out holes between, oh, say, 3/8" and 3/4"
real nice.  Somebody stole the drill press with the chuck in place.

Yours is the only other one I've heard about.  I dunnoif they're in
demand with collectors or not.
