I am not sure whether this is exactly what you are looking for, but
backyard metalcasting at http://www.backyardmetalcasting.com has some
information on building oil fired furnaces for casting brass and
aluminum. Lindsay technical books also has some good books on the
subject, but again aimed at casting rather than forging. Hope this
