[TheForge] pitted rust

Cameron- you have gotten lots of recipes for chemical processes, and
some ideas for doing it hot. It all depends on how big a project it is,
but another idea, which might work is to have the piece shot blasted
after it is finished. When I lived in LA, I used to take a lot of work
to a really big industrial sandblaster- National Sandblasters- really
great guys.
In addition to sand blasting and glass bead blasting, they were set up
to do both steel grit and steel shot blasting. Big huge guns, 150hp
compressors, and steel shot as big as small ball bearings speeding at
the metal at hundreds of miles an hour.
Makes a nice, highly pitted surface.
So if you are near a city that might have a big sandblasting company,
its another alternative. Quick, clean, no chemicals, but you have to
pay someone else to do it.
