Dear Dave,
Absolutely. You need to use 90/10 gas though. Then just start turning up
the voltage (and reduce the feed a little) until the normal sputtering,
splattering short arc transfer stops and the quiet hiss of spray transfer
starts. You will have a VERY hot bead, so move fast. Works best in flat
position and fillets, but horizontal and overhead are possible with
practice. To control heat on thin material, stitch with overlapping tacks.
Just tacks, you say, but they will penetrate right through and make a much
stronger weld than a low-amp bead that is just dribbled on top. And no
splatter...
