Dear Ries,
Are you familiar with the spray arc (mig) technique? I thought migs were
just for kids 'till the welding engineer at Volvo turned me on to IT (spray
transfer). Now I can't ever go back to short arc (involuntary shudder).
You can weld a single pass, 3/4" wide, 1/2" DEEP, flat as a flitter, no
undercut, and NO SPLATTER with .045 wire on a common 250 amp mig machine
(any brand). Use 90/10 , or tri-mix gas.
Now, I can't stand to weld with 75/25... yuck.
