Last night my son was getting a bit impatient with how much setup it takes
to run a stable Windows 2000 machine: install the software, update it, put
up and configure a firewall, and don't forget to update your antivirus
software...
We compared it to opening a storefront in a busy urban neighborhood- lots to
do, lots of company, but if you think you don't need locks on the door,
video surveillance, and maybe a bouncer, you're setting yourself up for
heartbreak.
Mac-ville is still pretty small town. Like where I live, you don't even need
a lock on the door. But the kids get bored because there's nothing to DO!
That's the tradeoff- everything they want to do works better on Windows, or
so they believe...
