For the hackers and math weenies among us:

I finally figured out how the pipe miter calculation works and wrote a
perl script that does the calculation. Output is the numbers you need
to lay out the wrap-around pattern by hand. (No automatic printing or
plotting.)

Should run on anything that has Perl. If there's any interest, I'll
email it or put it on my web site. Only real advantages would be if:

You don't have Windows and can't use the EXE program.

The Windows program doesn't work for you somehow, or

You wanna look under the hood.

I also found another program that ouputs a pattern as PostScript. I
haven't tried it because my PostScript-enabled printer just went
west. C source code. ftp://ftp.ihpva.org/miter/

I'm just at that stage of getting over the wrenched back that I feel
great and have to force myself to slack off after awhile so I've been
sitting here doing tube plots and making pipe joints in my collection
of toilet paper and towel tubes. Cool. If I were in the 3rd grade, I
could probably win the science fair medal with the glued-up tubes. :-)
