Phillip Baldwin is a friend of mine- he is a blacksmith, knifemaker,
and jeweller extraordinaire, as well as one of the main manufacturers
of Mokeme gane in the world. He in turn sells his mokeme to reactive
metals, and they retail it.
He built me my forge in trade for some aluminum welding I did for him
on a public art commission he did- a forged aluminum railing in a park
in Bellingham Wa.
He does not sell or manufacture his forges- he just builds them for
himself, so I was lucky to get one. It is a rolled kaowool design- no
pipe, with cast refractory ends, and a forged iron and cast refractory
burner. Atmospheric, quiet, and heats up quick. I love it. It is
mounted on wheels, with a 100lb propane tank mounted on the cart with
it. The tank has a curved heat shield which resembles a policemans
plexiglas shield, hence the "urban assualt" moniker.
