hello;

come out of lurking mode for a minute.

actually, owning a mac/imac/emac, costs less than a pc running any
microsoft operating system. also i am able to connect a mac to the
internet and not worry about the box being trojaned/zombied/etc before i
connect to the microsoft windows update web site to download the latest
series of security patches. i also do not have the additional cost of
and/or work of anti-virus software.

my children, all have imacs/emacs. the wife used an imac. i use linux.
linux on x86, powerpc (imac running linux), older dec alpha box running
linux. all the laptops run linux.

i have only twice ever had to reload the macos-x operating system on any
of the macs and that was because of a hard disk upgrades.

i have fixed many a windows box for friends and within a month or two
they are reloading windows all over again.

i do not have the desire to spend time babysitting a windows box with
all the security holes that come with it.


totally off topic side note:

remember the annoying dell dude who keep saying "hey dude you are
getting a dell". well he is now saying "hey dude you are getting a
cell."
